Medical Technologist (MT)
Job Summary
The Medical Technologist performs routine and complex analytical tests on human body fluids and tissues to provide accurate data to the health care team for optimal diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of disease states. The MT is capable of performing all of the tests in a single section or most of the tests in all clinical laboratory sections: bacteriology, immunohematology, chemistry, hematology, parasitology, serology and urinalysis.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology preferred
- Current certification or registration as a Medical Technologist such as ASCP, NCA, HEW or equivalent
- Valid and current State of Hawaii license as a Medical Technologist
- One year or more of clinical laboratory experience in a hospital or commercial lab setting
- Basic knowledge and skills in lab information systems is desirable
- Previous specialized experience in Microbiology and Blood Banking is preferred for MTs assigned to these departments
