Laboratory Assistant, Specialist
Job Summary
The Laboratory Assistant Specialist performs all the duties of the staff lab assistant including on-site phlebotomy, specimen processing, and drug screen collection. In addition, performs lab testing under the direct supervision of medical technologists. May be cross-trained as Breath Alcohol Technician (BAT), certified dangerous goods shipper/packer, or as a backup receptionist.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED
- Phlebotomy experience of at least 1 year preferred.
- Minimum 3 months intensive in-lab training with appropriate written testing provided by the Medical Technologist Supervisor. Test must be passed with satisfactory or good performance.
- Computer data entry experience required.
- Excellent English communication (verbal and written) skills, including by telephone
- Medical terminology required
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills.
